Our society is rapidly aging, and Orange County is not an exception. In 2020, approximately 16% of Orange County residents were aged 65 years and older. It is projected to be 24% in 2035 and 27% in 2045, being the only age group increasing in its population. As more adults reach retirement, our community will face a new set of challenges associated with aging including economic, lifestyle, cognitive health and Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders (ADRD). Currently, Orange County is not in a position to provide adequate support and care to meet the needs and challenges of this inevitably growing aging population. This underscores the importance of maintaining our cognitive health throughout our life.
